Connected with the large surface mines »Zukunft West« and »Inden« in the district of Düren near Aachen, the Indeland Masterplan provides a unique opportunity to influence the upcoming structural change in an innovative way and to design an attractive and multifunctional space in a landscape undergoing transformation. The project documents a communicative process of planning, development, and implementation that has been consensus oriented and designed to endure for decades. Regarding the project EuRegionale 2008, Indeland was anchored as the eastern entrance gate to the postindustrial landscape Grünmetropole.
